2016

Forming five-person team responsible for registering academic publications of CUE research workers and faculty in database Dorobek.

Signing an agreement extending the use and maintenance of the Virtua library software. The agreement on behalf of members of the Krakow Library Group, which also includes CUE Library was signed by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University.

Continuing digitalization of doctoral thesis available in the Library (before transferring them to the university archive). In 2016, 87 doctoral thesis were scanned.

Making decision on creating analytical records in the computer catalog for some CEU publications.

Office for Students with Disabilities at CUE granted CUE Library the certificate of disability friendly unit.

Futher work on maintaining and expanding the BazEkon database, as a result of receiving a ministerial grant for this purpose, to be used in 2014 and 2015 years.

Continuing the transfer of data related to the publications of the CUE academics to Polish Scholarly Bibliography (PBN) Data Reporting Module (on the basis of Dorobek database).

2015

Conclusion of a contract among CUE and Innovative Interfaces Global Limited company, being a legal successor of the VTLS company, for the purchase of the licence for Virtua-Chamo library management system (prolonging Virtua system used so far in the CUE Library).

Continuing digitalization of doctoral thesis available in the Library (before transferring them to the university archive). In 2015, 124 doctoral thesis were scanned.

Futher work on maintaining and expanding the BazEkon database, as a result of receiving a ministerial grant for this purpose, to be used in 2014 and 2015 years.

Dedicating the Main Reading Room to Anna Sokołowska-Gogut’ (director of library 1992-2009) honor and unveiling commemorative plaque with her name.

Signing of further cooperation agreement by all current members of BazEkon Consortium until 31st October, 2018.

The members of the Krakow Library Group have been in talks with Innovative to renew the Virtua software contract for a period of four years.


2014

CUE Senate approves changes in the Library Organisational Rules and Regulations, which include, among others:

  • increasing the borrowing limit to 10 books for 1 month for all CUE students, in the case of students with disabilities borrowing period is extended to 2 months,
  • increasing the borrowing limit to 12 books for 1 month for CUE students undertaking two full-time courses , in the case of students with disabilities borrowing period is extended to 2 months,
  • the borrowing limit for doctoral students is currently 12 books for a period of 2 months,
  • prolongation of loan period for retired faculty members to 3 months,
  • scientific staff is entitled to one time online renewal of books from the open shelves area of the Local Loans Department,
  • a complete change of §15 article of the Library Organisational Rules and Regulations concerning interlibrary loans.

CUE Senate approves amendments to the CUE Statute entries concerning the library - §42 section 3, §42 section 4 point 3 and § 3 section 1 point 6 are replaced.

CUE Senate approves Rector’s Decree dated 19 February 2014 concerning changes in the rules and regulations of Cracow University of Economics when it comes to qualifications for managerial positions in the Main Library.

CUE Senate approves requirements for candidates for certified librarian and certified documentation and information science workers.

The signing of an agreement for the processing of personal data between the Cracow University of Economics and AGH Library, concluded as a result of the Agreement on cooperation in the framework of the Krakow Library Group signed on 5 April 2002 and as a result of the agreement for the provision of services concluded on 30 July 2009 in Kraków, between the Academic Computer Center CYFRONET AGH and the AGH Main Library acting on behalf of the institution of the Krakow Library Group.

National Digital Library Polona is accessible form the library website.

The Catalogues opening hours are prolonged, room 202 in the library building is available to users from Monday to Friday from 8am - 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am – 8pm.

Doctoral theses available in paper format are scanned to allow their transfer from the library to the university archives. 130 doctoral theses were scanned in 2014.

Main Library website is modified and updated.

A significant increase in the number of contracts between the Main Library and individual publishers regarding their appearance in BazEkon database; 46 contracts were signed.

Purchase of the new software HAN 3 allowing correct remote access to library databases for students and scientific staff.

The decision to complete the Academic Digital Library – CRACOW project in its present form and in cooperation with AGH. Its content will be integrated with the future repositories created by AGH and CUE.

The library received grants for activities related to maintaining and expanding BazEkon database within the scope of Virtual Library of Science (VLS).

First steps in the purchase process of the catalogue CHAMO software.

Signing of the annex to the VTLS software license agreement of 15 November 1994, constituting the reduction starting 1 January 2015 of software licenses from 128 to 80 users, thereby lowering the cost of service fee from year 2015 onwards.

First steps in the process of closing CUE Main Library Foundation due to exhaustion of statutory objectives.


2013

Senior curator Elżbieta Golec-Nycz becomes the library’s new director.

The creation of the new job position for bibliometrics in the organizational structure of the Library.

The University of Economics in Katowice joins the BazEkon consortium and cooperates in creating content for BazEkon database.

Continuation of digitization of „Ekonomista” journal. The full text collection of Academic Digital Library – CRACOW was further expanded.

The introduction of bibliographic descriptions for unpublished doctoral dissertations to the union catalog of Polish research and academic libraries NUKAT. Records for dissertations defended in 2012-2013 were added to the database. The works from the years 2006-2011 will be gradually introduced.


2012

Scopus and Wiley Publishing databases are added to the list of e-resources purchased by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which means our patrons get unlimited access to those resources.

The refurbishment of the Main Reading Room is completed.

Books may be returned using the self-return machine located at the entrance to the the Local Loans Department. The self-return machine can be used outside library opening hours, 7 days a week.

Z inicjatywy Biblioteki Głównej UEK utworzenie Konsorcjum BazEkon. Jego Koordynatorem został Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Krakowie a Partnerami: Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny we Wrocławiu, Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie, Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Poznaniu i Uniwersytet Szczeciński.

The library has released its own bibliometric software and website: Citations in BazEkon.


2011

The library adapts its facilities to cater for the needs of students with disabilities, the refurbishment of the Information Services Department and the Catalogues makes it easier to use the library’s resources. The library website has been updated and adapted to WAI (Web Access Initiative) standards.

Modernization of the lending counter equipment at the Local Loans Department. Preparations for installing self-service book return machine.

Additional moving shelves are installed in the underground book stacks. Cleaning works are finished in the periodical stacks.

Works on creation of indexes for the digitized sheaf catalogue are completed.

Late Night Study Area is opened for the first time during the examination session.

Database Dorobek is included in the procedures for the periodic evaluation of the University faculty for the years 2006-2010. The database is updated with the functionality to generate reports on faculty publications and publications of the University’s organizational units.

The library’s own database BazEkon becomes available on the Internet free of charge. The records are also compiled by the librarians from The Warsaw School of Economics, The Wrocław University of Economics and Poznań University of Economics. If possible, bibliographic records are connected with full-text publications.

Poland is no longer recognised as a developing country resulting in the closure of IMF Depository Library.


2010

Creation of a new database Dorobek which registers academic publications of CUE research workers and faculty.

By rector’s decree digital copies of doctoral dissertations defended at our University are to be made publicly available on the Internet through the CUE digital library.

The merger of the library’s two largest databases GOSPODARKA and NAUKI SPOŁECZNE into BazEkon and development of a new interface. Librarians from other economic schools are invitated to cooperate in the creation of this database.

The majority of the library’s own databases receives a new interface.

Digitized card catalogues (the sheaf catalogue and the card catalogue) are made publicly available on the Internet.

Moving shelves are installed in the stacks, oldest periodicals are transferred there.

The library website offers access to EBSCO A-Z Journals - new portal with full-text journals./p>

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education purchases so-called 'country license' for access to EBSCO, ScienceDirect, Springer Link and Web of Knowledge databases.


2009

Mrs. Anna Osiewalska becomes the Library Director.

Launch of off-campus remote access to databases purchased by the University for all library patrons.

Launch of 'Propose a purchase' application.

Textbooks Reading Room is closed, its collection is now available in the Main Reading Room, the free space is taken by the European Reading Room.

Archival issues of periodicals are moved form the Main Reading Room into the Current Periodicals Reading Room. The name is changed to the Periodicals Reading Room.

Cooperation with the World Bank has taken a new form. Depository Library no longer receives printed copies of publications, instead the library is provided online access to the full-texts of books, periodicals and Working Papers through the World Bank e-Library.

CentralSearch Tool created by the library becomes MultiSearch Tool.


2008

Replacement of public computer workstations available for patron use.

The library has a new webpage.

Library Instruction Classes for first year students become obligatory.

Creation of the library information folder for the first year students.


2007

CentralSearch Tool allows simultaneous search of all of the library’s databases, including online subscription sources, library’s own databases and the library catalogue.


2006

Launch of off-campus remote access to databases purchased by the University for the registered CUE research workers.

The library has a new webpage.

Wireless Internet access is available for the registered library users.

The library launches its own digital library.

Information Kiosk is set in the hall of the Library Building.

Library is open 24 hours in the period before the introduction of martial law. The construction of the new library building is completed.

Beginning of the construction of the new library building.

Second floor of the Academy Main Building is adapted to the library’s needs, the library has separate reading rooms and catalogues. Library starts publishing materials.

New organizational structure of the library consisting of four departments, this organizational core is valid to this day.

Acquisition of MRN Statistical Office collection.

Department libraries become part of the Main Library.

Mrs. Zofia Rybska becomes the Library Director. Retirement of Emil Edelman, one of the first employees and the library’s curator.

The new law on higher education upgrades the library status to an education facility with research, educational and services tasks.

Introduction of Library Preparation Classes for full-time and part-time postgraduate students.

Establishment of first department libraries.

Introduction of Library Preparation Classes for the first year students.

The core of the University, and with it the Library, move to present premises at Rakowicka St 27.

Mr. Feliks Młynarski becomes the Library Director.

Extension of scarce library premises by additional room and increase of library staff to seven employees.

Initiation of the publications exchange, introduction of imported books purchase and acquisition of about 2.000 volumes from the post-war collections..

First interlibrary loans.


1946

Decree of 17.04.1946 underlying the new organizational structure for the library. Library management was given to Emil Adelman.


1945

Reactivation of the library organization and activities on the basis of the University Professors Resolution of 07/17/1945, which entrusted library management in the hands of Mr. Zbigniew Żabinski. Appointment of the Library Commission. Reconstitution of inventories and catalogues. War losses are estimated at 1/3 of pre-war collection.


1942

Occupation of University buildings. The collection was deposited in the Jagiellonian Library and in Cracow offices.


1939-1945

Occupation of University buildings. The collection was deposited in the Jagiellonian Library and in Cracow offices.


1938

Approval of the library’s organizational structure under the statute given to the school when it was granted the name of Trade Academy.


1925

Establishment of the library together with the Higher College of Trade (HCT) in Cracow. This small academic reference library is managed by two librarians: Mrs. Maria Epstein-Herczkowa (Library Director) and Mr. Emil Adelman.
